| Joypad GC Modern Warfare 2 Tournament Results |
Modern Warfare 2 players descended upon the Joypad Gaming Centre in Maynooth for the first tournament run by the centre. The day featured a Free For All tournament along with a 4v4 tournament. The day got underway with the Free For All tournament with ten players taking part. They were split into two matches with five players in each session. The top three fraggers in each session would progress to the final. Irish Contingent threw down the gauntlet to the others with three players entering the tournament and sealing a place in the final. Martin O'Connor, Patrick Lawlor and Michael Monaghan were joined in the final by James Boland, Sam Nolan and Ronan Gallagher. Along with the cash prize on offer, bragging rights were also at stake. This could be seen in the Irish Contingent players' performances. Martin O'Connor, Patrick Lawlor and Michael Monaghan wrapped up first to third respectively. Ronan Gallagher, Sam Nolan and James Boland rounded out the top six. With that result, it was clear that Irish Contingent were the team to watch. This certainly proved true in the team competition as they were ruthless. The 4v4 tournament featured a match consisting of three games. Teams competed in Team Deathmatch, Domination and a Capture The Flag session. As expected, Irish Contingent took first with S.R.B.B and Suit Up placing second and third respectively. This was the first event that Joypad Gaming Centre has run and the team felt that it went well. It is hoped that there will be more events in the future with a FIFA tournament likely to be run next. |
